How To Deal With Liquid Oxygen Correctly
Liquid hydrogen or LOX, as it is abbreviated, is a very important fluid. It is however one of the most dangerous components in the atmosphere. Therefore, it should be handled with care. The fluid is usually used in underwater, medical, gas and aerospace industries. It appears shinning icy blue in color. It has an extremely cold temperature which can be very harmful if not handled correctly. It is a member of the cryogen fluids which have very high boiling points.
The fluid is capable of solidifying human tissue within seconds using a advanced gasifier. It can also cause materials such as plastic, steel and rubber to become brittle. One of its characteristics is that it is a powerful oxidizing agent. In other words, it can cause combustion when it comes in contact with organic components. It can also cause black carbon to detonate when soaked in it. It is however, also very necessary in various sectors such as propelling a rocket.
The fluid is also quite beneficial in the medical industry. The element is an important component in the body. It aids it the normal functioning of all organs in the body. Lack of the gas in the blood can lead to death. The fluid can be used to increase the gas in the body through a process known as therapy. There are certain risks involved when doing this. It is only when the life of the patient is compromised that the liquid is needed.
The gas is also used when manufacturing vitamin supplements. The supplements can help increase its levels in the body. They can also help the body fight off diseases, get rid of toxins as well as improve its general health. These supplements are usually given to athletes, bodybuilders or people who engage in rigorous exercises. They also recommended to people who live in mountainous areas where the gas levels are very low.
It is important to understand how the liquid should be stored. Being a dangerous fluid, it should be stored in dry ventilated rooms. It should not be left outside exposed to too much heat. Doing this can cause the fluid to explode causing fire. It should be stored in room free from other flammables or combustibles. If possible it should be kept is a room several meters away from organic components and other combustibles.
It is so unsafe, that bare hands should not be used when handling it. In case of a small drop, serious burns can result. The handler should wear gloves and an overall over regular clothes. Handling it carelessly can result to serious damages. It is usually not sold to anyone. Although it is basically a gas, it shouldn’t be inhaled directly. In case the fluid pours on ones clothes, they clothes should be kept outside to dry completely.
The fluid should be kept in clean environments free from dirt and oil. Although useful, nothing should be taken for granted when handling the fluid. One simple mistake can result in unquantifiable damage.
Liquid oxygen should be stored in concentrator instead of a tank. The advanced gasifier is more advanced and does not require refilling.
